For one of De Volkskrant's additions, Sir Edmund, we were asked to photograph Arnold Smeulders for their cover. Arnold calls himself a scientist in computer vision. He is best know for his image search engine. His engine does not search by tracing what others think about the image - as Google does very efficiently - but rather by looking at certain objects within the images. Would his machine recognise the objects in our photo's?
